The primary sewing challenges from an industrial perspective are broken stitches and raw edges, which can account for up to 80% of defects in production. Broken stitches often result from flagging, handling errors by operators, or machine faults. Raw edges occur when fabric doesn't properly enter the seam, leading to fraying after washing. While raw edges can be controlled with discipline, the scale of production makes it difficult. These defects incur significant costs in rework, impacting garment prices. Eliminating these issues is crucial for manufacturing success.
Users cannot simply scan and work together, they need both their hands on deck for tailoring. Hence the application was designed primarily for Virtual Reality. Given below is how the application actually works and assists the user by giving a step by step tutorial on how to get things done.
The application takes knowledge from pre fed information about the project that is going to be worked on. For example in this case the application takes knowledge by reading the blueprint on how to form a tote bag to allow the user to work.
This project comes under a experimental project and is still under development given that I need to work side by side with developers to bring the application to life. The following software are in currently in use: Figma, Unity, and Illustrator.
